Oreo Truffles

Oreo TrufflesOreo Truffles – a favorite of my oldest niece. I mainly make them at Christmas time (or let’s be honest – whenever she asks). Beautiful and sweet just like her.

Here is all you need:

1 package of Oreos (I use the regular not double stuffed)

1 package of cream cheese (softened)

3 squares of white chocolate

I use my Pampered Chef Food Chopper to get the Oreos chopped fine. I get a nice upper body workout while doing it too! I take 3 cookies at a time and chop until fine (the consistency of coffee grounds) and repeat until the entire package is chopped.

In a separate bowl, mix the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the chopped Oreos and blend with each addition. Continue until all the cookies have been incorporated and no cream cheese is showing. Place in the refrigerator and chill for at least 20 to 30 minutes to firm up the cream cheese.

Once firm, I use a Pampered Chef Small Scoop to make perfectly sized truffles. I roll the truffle between my hands for form a ball shape. Place on waxed paper.

Put the 3 squares of white chocolate in a microwave safe dish (I use my small glass measuring cup) and microwave for approximately 45 seconds. Careful not to over heat. Take a fork and mix up the melted chocolate. If there are some lumps; either continue mixing with the fork or place in the microwave for a few more seconds – mix again.

I have found the best and most effective way to drizzle the chocolate on the truffles is by placing a sandwich baggie in a glass. Scrape the chocolate into the baggie then seal with as much air out of the baggie as possible. Be careful as the chocolate is very warm.

Clip the tip from the bottom corner of the baggie. I make mine small. The chocolate is easier to control and you don’t want a large amount coming out at once. Also, when you go from truffle to truffle it is easier to stop the flow of the chocolate with a smaller opening.

You can’t go wrong with the drizzle process. A girlfriend of mine was here the other evening and she said she dipped the entire truffle into the chocolate then used another color over top for the drizzle!

Have fun and let your creativity flow!
